With thriving, expertly managed forestry and two successful Christmas tree businesses, Fasque & Glendye estates not only support themselves, but are active contributors to the economy and generators of local employment.
Fasque & Glendye Estates provide an ideal environment for growing varieties of pine and fir, and the productive capacity of the land is optimised. The Fasque Christmas Tree Partnership was established in 2002 as a joint venture between the estate and five Danish investors, headquartered at Balnakettle, near Fettercairn, on the lower eastern foothills of the Grampians.
The FCTP grows a number of different trees which are renowned for their premium quality, and are able to specialise in larger trees of up to 2m in height. These include Nordmann pine, Fraser fir, Noble fir and Lodgepole pine. The trees typically take seven to eight years to reach maturity. The first harvest was in 2009 and last year over 50,000 trees were harvested. The trees are sold direct to wholesalers, garden centres, farm shops and other high quality retailers across the UK, including to the Hawarden Estate Farm Shop on our sister estate that straddles the Wales/England border.
The address for deliveries and pick ups is Mains of Balnakettle, Fettercairn, AB30 1DS.
