Standing just to the west of Fettercairn, Balbegno Castle offers luxurious, friendly and authentically Scottish self-catering accommodation for up to 13 people. It is also a beautiful setting for larger gatherings or a wedding.
Guests at Balbegno Castle have access to Fasque Lake, an eight-hectare ornamental lake with three islands, a rowing boat and copious supplies of trout. The castle has a large private garden with woodland, lawns and rose beds. The lawns come with a croquet set. Shooting, stalking and fishing are available by arrangement. Some wellies of various sizes are provided.
Indoors, as in every great holiday house, Balbegno Castle has a pool table, board games, satellite TV, a DVD player and wireless broadband.
Balbegno is self-catering, but we will happily introduce you to agencies who will provide a cook. You can eat in the kitchen itself, in the dining room, or in the Great Hall which can seat up to 24 at the big table. The Great Hall can also accommodate up to 55 for weddings, corporate dinners or other functions beneath its famous ceiling depicting the coats of arms of 13 Scottish peers.
The castle can sleep up to 13 people. There are six bedrooms, two on the ground floor and four on the first floor. One of the Twin rooms can easily be converted into a comfortable dormitory for four due to the inclusion of clever beds that, when rolled out from their storage position (under the other beds), open up on spring loaded legs to become proper full-height beds with really good mattresses.
You can book Balbegno from 3 nights to one or two weeks.
